The Design-Build Institute of America is the only organization that defines, teaches and promotes best practices in design-build. Design-build is an integrated approach that delivers design and construction services under one contract with a single point of responsibility. Owners select design-build to achieve best value while meeting schedule, cost and quality goals.
The University of Colorado has a 15 year history of constructing projects throughout the state of Colorado. In 2010 the program was expanded to include Design-Build Bluff in Utah on the Navajo Nation. In 2011, the program has expanded to work with the non-profit group in Guatemala known as Long Way Home. The purpose will be to assist in the design and construction of a school, Tecncio Maya in the town of San Juan Comalapa. The program in Guatemala will also provide an initial study for a research and clinic on a site in Coatepeque on behalf of the CU School of Medicine. These new efforts will provide the University of Colorado Denver architecture design-build program an opportunity to engage in critical global issues and needs.
